Fabulous representation of 1980's sweater on Gen. A luscious combo of angora and silk/cotton in rich coppery tones which I think makes it super wearable for today's hipster. Wear this with skinny jeans and your python Manolos, we added some gold vintage rings for some real bad ass-ness or with high waisted white jeans and laced up booties, to really make it, like oh my god super 80's style.

I absolutely love shopping for this site! I mean when you find a treasure like this - it's just impossible not to have a little tear in your eye. The beading and sequin detailing on this dress are simply spectacular and one of a kind. But it doesn't stop there, the attention to the hem detail, creating a jagged edge, do we really see this anymore. . .maybe, but not often enough. The photographer created even more drama with the lighting for this shot and it absolutely captures the Gen in a very Studio 54 esque look. The dress has a high scoop neck with fuller arms and lands at the knee. Where would you wear this? Well, where wouldn't you! Toss on a little faux fur wrap an off you go.

I Love this red cross sweater by Suss Design, a well known LA knitwear designer. Check out her website: www.sussdesign.com. I absolutely could not help myself from this purchase. It reminds of the early 90's, attending all the SubPop shows I could cram into a weekend in Chicago, I would have worn this with my short shorts and combat boots. Come on, you were there too...

You could also wear this fabulous sweater with skinny jeans and flats and leggings and over the knee boots both excellent options for those of us that have graduated from 90's grunge to 2010 fashion.

I love, love, love this never worn thrift store find. Sparkle paisley print in mint condition is such a perfect fashion statement for the long winter ahead. We paired the skirt in this shoot with a lovely vintage angora sweater in a neutral color. Whatever you decide to wear with this skirt I would definitely keep it on the down low, creams, black, gray etc. Let the sparkle, sparkle!

The Find: Yummy, cozy red sweater

Ok, this is a must have for your winter wardrobe. I found this nifty little sweater at my new favorite thrift store in Los Angeles. Yes, I have just become another LA transplant from the Bay Area. As long as I can get to my mothership all is well, and LA is full of fabulous thrift stores! Gen is sporting this cozy number with her favorite boyfriend jeans, killer heels and the most wonderful hair! I would say this is pretty much a staple for any gal into current trends, the shoulders are pleated ever so 80's style and you can wear with a belt or open. Pockets, we love 'em so that's a big plus. You could also pair this with your favorite leggings, pencil skirt or over a casual fall dress, all in all yummy cozy goodness.

The Inspiration: Cozy, warm style. Yes, even fashionistas like to be warm!

The Find: Stunning Velvet Jacket

Ok, so the idea behind this blog was to have the gals bring some of their own clothing to work in the vintage pieces that I found. This way the reader could truly see how easy it is to wear vintage trend pieces (meaning vintage but out on the street now). Alison shows up with these high waisted, acid washed jeans and I was absolutely thrilled! Paired with the gorgeous velvet jacket and crinoline shoulder pads she is a vision for all fashionistas. This super soft velvet piece would be great over just about anything. If you are absolutely refusing the acid wash high waisters(um I am, you know second time around thing) try with just your basic skinny jean and favorite white T, I say white because it makes this fabulous jacket just pop! Also try it over your favorite dress, maybe even the black and white sequined number I have on the blog. If you are not sure what to wear this with just ask and we shall tell.

Glorious Floral Dress

The Find: Floral

Ripped from the headlines, ok not really but "as seen in Vogue". This amazing dress resembles the lovely floral dress as featured in Vogue this fall, www.vogue.com. Blue, green purple and black create a stunning eyefull of color! Low V(perfect to show off your black lace bando) pleated across the waist with faux buckle and just the right length to show of your gams. I found this number at the Goodwill and just love the way it flows and shoulder pads keep you on trend but not too huge to make you look like you are on the set of Dallas! I love this dress with bare legs or toss on some black tights with your booties or Manolos and arrive in complete elegance. We added some gold accessories here and I would also recommend a fabulous statement ring to complete the outfit.

Ok, we are still trying to decide, is it a rule that if you were around the first time for the 80's look you should look but don't wear? This is Alison's first time round and and she looks fabu. She is wearing her Doc Marten boots with high waisted shorts and we tossed on a vintage Anne Klien door knocker necklace. This jacket would look great and so on trend with skinny gray jeans and your favorite booties. The jacket is complete with shoulder pads, one button closure, throw on a few pieces of vintage flair and it all just works!

The Find: Sparkle Butterfly Top

We have all seen loads of these sequined style tops at the thrift store, but this one is super special! We found this butterfly madness at a fabulous resale shop in the Mission, could not resist it. The colors are amazing and of course the butterfly print steals the show and gives this piece a timeless look. Sequins and sass, what better way to wear a vintage piece. Ria wears this top with short shorts, we wanted to show off her legs. You can also pair with skinny jeans, wide leg jeans and of course leggings if you must.

The Find: Wide black and white blouse

I love that Alison brought her fabulous high waisted, acid wash shorts for this shoot and they look fab with this wide stripe black and white blouse. The question is when is black and white ever out of fashion. . . uh, never. This blouse is not really vintage, maybe from early 2000 but I love the look and think you can really make it current. Overall great find at the Goodwill. This blouse would also look great with black leggings and you oversized black cashmere sweater and over the knee boots.

The Find: Retro Suiting

This is an amazing ensemble for the working gal. We have a great vintage Chole dress in electric yellow with a ecru jacket found while at my local goodwill, although the jacket fabric feels is a bit uniformy I thought it looked great on Alison and on trend for the eighties double breasted jacket look. Ok, so my joy in this outfit not only comes from the fact that Alison looks amazing and the location was killer - but she is wearing vintage Gucci Loafers another fabulous find at my local sallies. Any of these pieces can be worn separately each creating a fashion statement. The Chole dress, just add a super cool belt, boots, oh and maybe you could wear it under our fabulous faux fur pieces. The jacket, I actually liked with jeans and cool white slub tshirt. Vintage Gucci loafers - well, anything really.

The Find: Fur Fabulous Fur

Bring on the cold and wrap yourself in this lovely faux fur coat! I felt this magically appear, it just flew off the thrift store rack and into my welcoming arms. I love this piece, when I arrived home and I found a very similar looking fur coat on Neiman's site and it was $5900! Granted it was a real mink and yes, stunning. This lovely faux number is comparable in color and style, seriously. You can wear this like our lovely Alison, over your floral jumpsuit and fushia bando. Or you can find yourself in your favorite jeans, boots and cashmere. You can also add a gold 80's style skinny belt around the waist. I just think it absolutely fabulous and the style options are endless and it will certainly turn heads and keep you warm and fuzzy all winter long.

The Find: 80's inspired Leather Jacket

A major fashion must have for the season, gold button double breasted chic leather jacket. Very 80's with exaggerated dolman sleeves, cropped with eppelets.

Ok, how can a gal get thru fall without her favorite leather jacket? I don't know and you don't have to because I found it for you! This piece was picked up along my drive down El Camino Real, not sure which thrift I tripped into for this one, but I was not leaving without it. This leather will work with your high waisted trouser jeans as well as the way we show it here with a white tshirt and leggings and also with your fav high waisted pencil skirt and Vivienne Westwood style platforms!

I found this amazing piece at my local Sallies. I had to have this dress, it rocks the sequin trend, it's so right now! A geometric celebration in black and white sequins, not quite mini so still appropriate for your holiday party(ies) although I guess it really depends on where you work. . . Love that a short sleeve dress can still pull off sexy. Alison shows this retro dress in a very dramatic setting in Northern Cali, but you can set your own drama with this dress, you can create all the fog you desire. We show this here with little hipster black booties but you can wear with tights and heels or your favorite Manolos.
